Great tan head with a coat of lace. The beer is nearly black where no light passes through.
Black patent malt bitterness shows up in the nose. There is no sweetness to this smell, only black coffee.
This is a dry stout. Again, the coffee jumps out as the predominant taste. There is hop which comes through most strongly in the swallow. The aftertaste is a pleasant blend of these two major flavors. The body is typical for the style.
In my notes, I wrote "kinda a one-trick pony of black patent/coffee notes."

Appearance: A deep blackness that survives when held up to the light. Barely any head.
Smell: Roasted coffee and alcohol tones in the nose.
Taste: An ample serving of coffee beans, roasted barley, and bitter fig tones highlight this beer. Great stout bitterness as well.
Mouthfeel: Rich and creamy with low, but appropriate carbonation.
Drinkability: I'd sure drink this one more often if I could find it in Boston. It was sampled at The Great Lost Bear in Portland, Maine. Fanastic stout all around.

Pours flat black with a dense tan head. Lacy. Smells first and foremost of coffee with underlying smoky malt aromas.
Taste is of roasted malt followed by bitter coffee flavors. Smoky and creamy flavors. Milky flavors and mouthfeel not unlike a milk stout. Bitter, almost dry finish. Very smooth. Interesting concoction. First time I've had a stout brewed with coffee and it is a positive experience! Thanks to bennybrew for the growler.

A refreshing stout? Yes, indeed. This poured a deep, dark brown with the slightest hint of transluscence. The head was light chocolate in color and it receded quickly to a thin ring. The smell is definitely as advertised--thick coffee and strong molassas and chocolate highlights. The taste is not as bold as the taste, however. Indeed, the espresso it still evident, but there is both a subtle sweetness and a lightness to this stout that could easily make it a spring/summer favorite. Another fine offering from the folks at Maine Coast (and BA's own Bennybrew).

The last from my beer stash courtesy of bennybrew. Poured from a 1/2 gallon growler. Had a tasty coffee brown opaque body with a cascade turning into a light tan head. Plenty of lace. Smell was a huge in the coffee department. It smelled like freshly crushed coffee beans still in a bag. Taste was more coffee along with some roasty chocolate malts and a fresh hop bitterness. It was dry finish as there was plenty of molasses sweetness. Light in body but wonderfully refreshing still with little carbonation bubbles tickling my tongue. Very tasty beer.
