nothing at all wrong with this one, in fact, a really well made and tasty ipa, i just for some reason expected a little more out of it. maybe its the high standard these guys have established across all their beers, or maybe the love for rye i have at all times in all contexts, but i wanted more of it here, i wanted a bolder beer. i think i am jaded though and that this is awesome, i just was looking to be floored by either uniqueness or rye intensity, and this has neither. sad too that i want so much from it, because as a rye pale type, i think it works really well. for an ipa, it could use a bigger hop profile, especially on the back end where a malt sweetness really over balances it, but it tastes great and is about as drinkable as anything called a rye beer or an ipa could be. more spice and hop bitterness would slow its drinking down, but it would add a lot of needed depth i think. still fantastic, but i expect more adventure in chain reaction stuff. these guys can do no wrong though, and this beer has no flaws, im just being selfish.
