12 oz can purchased from Hop City in Birmingham AL for $2.19. Canned 11/19/2019.
Prairie Rastal glass.

Pours a shiny silky watery black body with a tall creamy beige head, very bulbous, very heavy. 3 fingers here. Gradually recedes to about 1/2 finger with lots of loopy lace.

Aroma is initially of tin, roasted malts, and slight coconut milk. Consecutive whiffs yield some dark chocolate, ash, and lactose powder. Some darker notes develop too with charred wood, leather, and tobacco. Overall not an overwhelming nose but has some interesting attributes, and some depth, so that's why it's a 4.

Flavor brings some cheap tobacco, ashy roasted malt, tin, and smoke. There's an acidic slightly sour tin thing going on that I'm not a fan of. Coconut does come in but it's completely unsweet and does nothing to really enhance the beer. Lactose is detectable but also, does nothing to sweeten the beer.

Feel is acidic, dry, slightly slick, moderate carbonation, moderate to high heat for the ABV, and ends acidic and dry.

Overall I'm not impressed by this one, it's basically a dry bitter metallic stout with only hints of unsweetened coconut. I don't think I'd know it was there if it wasn't listed on the can. There's nothing obviously wrong with it, it's just not what you'd expect. Not a sweet/milk stout at all, very dry, very roasted, and relatively uninteresting.

Appearance: Jet black, oil-like. Thick tan head with good retention.

Aroma: Roasted malt, faint floral note. I didn't get any coconut aroma; but plenty of roasted malt.

Flavor & Aftertaste: Medium to Medium high sweetness, roasted malt, no coconut. Mildly bitter from roasted flavors and hops. Moderate length finish.

Mouth feel: Low palate carbonation, full bodied. Soft, not sticky or mouth coating.

Overall: I didn't detect any coconut flavors or aromas; but the brewery describes their process as having cooked the coconuts for weeks. Which would give explantion for the roasted flavors and aromas dominating. Mouthfeel is more like a porter than stout; but the 6.6% ABV gives way to Stout level. A fine stout, not outstanding, but certainly desireable.
