16 oz can, dated 2/23/21 into Urban South Willie.

Huge creamy head on top of a juicy blonde body. Lots of lace. Artwork.

Aroma is stiff forest floor and woody pine from the can with elements of grain mash/malt-o-meal coming through from the glass. Some white grapefruit pith, mostly greenery though.

Flavor is bitter lemon peel, a hint of strawberry, a hint of grapefruit juice, then a ton of weird spicy bitterness that practically ruins the beer. Finish of pine, parsley, agave, and slight bubble gum.

Feel is crisp and resinous, slightly juice, alcohol heat is mild to moderate.

Overall, super weird and there's not really a good focus to this thing. Orpheus should stick to sours 'cause their IPAs is wack.

Don't do it dear reader, you shall henceforth regret it.

Price paid : $2.25 / can
Would buy again : nope

$3.29 USD plus tax for a 16 fl oz pull-tab can at a beer store in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"IPA." Brewed with Mosaic. 6.7% ABV. Seemingly brewed at Beltline Brewing, Atlanta, GA.

Served cold into a stemless wine glass.

APPEARANCE: Murky dull copper body - looks rather unappealing, to be honest. White frothy head. ~8 minute head retention.

AROMA: Tropical fruit rind. Maybe mango, melon, pear. Cantaloupe that's going mushy...

None of Mosaic's signature subtle blueberry is present judging by the aroma.

Pale malts/2-row malted barley.

Suggests an underwhelming IPA that doesn't showcase Mosaic hops well at all and has a poor overall hop profile with hop pungency resembling a mere pale ale at best...

TASTE & TEXTURE: The only thing elusory here is quality.

Has a muted hop profile redolent of aging cantaloupe, melon rind, and stale tropical fruit. 2-row malted barley lends this its simple malt backbone.

Lacks Mosaic hop character on a fundamental basic level and fails to showcase the hop to any meaningful extent. None of Mosaic's blueberry flavour comes through here, but worse - little hop flavour at all comes through here. Drinks like an early 1990s pale ale, lacking pungency & intensity of hop character while tending a bit stale. Not great to say the least.

Smooth, wet, unrefreshing, light to medium-bodied, well carbonated. Could be softer, could be creamier, could be fuller bodied to better effect, but let's be fair - the real problem here is its taste, not its texture. Not that the two are in any way harmonious...

OVERALL: Yeah, this one's just a swing and a miss. Hardly an IPA given its obvious lack of hop pungency, and comparing it to an all-Mosaic IPA like Lone Pint's Yellow Rose just further humiliates it. It's a cringe-inducing laugh of a beer at $3.29/16 fl oz can and I'd never buy it again. Easily one of the most underwhelming attempts at an IPA I've tried this year.

Why brew this?

Copper somewhat hazy body
Malt, orange, apricot, nectarine
Agave, biscuit, malt, orange zest, grass, booze
Medium body. Medium carbonation

This is a more "back of tongue" IPA than I usually prefer with the bread and malt notes but a decent drink

Not many reviews of this one so I decided to offer my own. Pint draft

L: golden orange cream head nice lacing
S: Smells of dank, almost skunky/weedy hops aroma, pine
T: big dank hoppy flavor but the bitterness from all those hops is balanced with the malts
F: medium bodied good carbonation
O: Enjoyable IPA from a brewery that does IPAs well (Transmigration of Souls is excellent).

Pours a hazy grapefruit color with a small half a pinky finger white head even with a very aggressive pour.

Aroma is well hell a little disappointing for a triple dry hopped brew. Some muted tropical citrus light grapefruit and pine underneath. on the plus side the malt base is nice and sweet.

Taste is like the nose pretty dang bland had to go back and recheck the date on the can 4/7/20 Personally this is a sad excuse for an IPA even an NE style one. Light tropical fruits with even lighter hop bitterness even the sweet malt base isn't that sweet on the palette.

Mouthfeel is medium with kind of mellow carbonation.

Overall sad I bought a 4 pack of this on someone telling me this brewery usually made good beer. Not drain pour material but if Bud made a NE style IPA this is what it would taste like. Not bad just not enough hops in the nose or on the palette. Wouldn't buy more then one to try unless you need an expensive lawnmower beer.
