Brown sugar, chocolate, white grape, vanilla, and hints of peat from the lovely scotch barrel. Very lightly astringent. Low carbonation producing a slight layer of head, no lacing. I appreciate the balance of scotch and bourbon barrels, since scotch on its own has been overwhelming on a number of other beers I've had.

Opaque dark brown appearance.
Almost no head; no lace.
Fresh tobacco, oak, booze heat, caramel & mild chocolate notes in the nose. Whoa!
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Caramel, oak & fresh tobacco up front; mild chocolate notes on the finish. Booze heat emerged as this warmed.
This nails the English barleywine ideal nearly perfectly. Wish I had more!!
