Siram Retto, our ode to Maris Otter we brewed with Prolyfk Brewing Project. A long boil hopped throughout with EKG gives us a rich and multilayered experience of toast, marmalade, and treacle.

Received a 12.7 oz bottle via trade from @BMBCLT 6-3-23. 2022 bottling consumed 6-12-24.

Beer gushed open after sitting at room temperature for 1.5 hours. Nice looking pour initially that dissipated pretty quickly.

Nose is nice, getting some baked dark bread with dark fruits.

Taste is a baked dark bread malt base that also yields notes of toffee, dates and prunes. Barrel impartation and hopping is under the radar and works as a balancing element. Finishes balanced with a slight leaning towards a touch of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is full bodied, soft and very smooth.

Overall, this is a dangerously drinkable barleywine as it has aged really well, nicely done!

Appearance: Very dark brown body, lightly viscous in appearance with a yellow-beige head.

Smell: Dense loaf of pumpernickel bread, cooked glaze of oozing treacle, light roast. Wood inundated with tangy-scented fruit vinegar.

Taste: Initial burst of sweetness edged by some blips of acidic roasted malt. Toasted bread quality bringing about an ample supply of pumpernickel. A little dash of vanilla sugar, subtle bourbon barrel alongside a jutting dark fruitiness akin to balsamic vinegar. Closes out sweet, fruity and boozy.

Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. A bit sticky on the tongue.

Overall: I can't wait to see what Orpheus does next!

Pours a dark almost stout like but a little lighter thumb sized tan head with good lacing.

Aroma is surprisingly a little light for a BW, some light roasted notes, toffee, caramel hints of dark fruits.

Taste is wow full of flavors that you wouldn't guess from the nose, nor really diffrent but full flavored. Loads of caramel with toffee notes, light roasted notes mingled with good dark fruits. Some underlying lingering older hop notes, more like a 2 year old Bigfoot then a fresher BW. Of course not even sure on the date of this one maybe it's been aged on the shelf. But you would not expect this flavor profile from the nose.

Mouthfeel is wierd feels a little light for a big beer carbonation is also to peppy for my tastes and the style.

Overall good flavors, tastes great just seems little wierd nose and feel don't match up to what my tounge is tasting.
