Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. Pours red orange with a fluffy white head. Smells off floral hops with slight citrus. Tastes of floral and citrus notes, nice malt base, nice bite. Beer is light bodied and very drinkable, good carbonation. Overall, an above average beer.

I found this recently in the singles cooler at Country Garden Six Pack here in Lancaster and decided to bring it home and give it a whirl. I am winnowing down my bottle backlog and look forward to a return to The CANQuest (tm) shortly.

From the bottle: "Explore this series of single hop IPAs - each begins with our Latitude 48 IPA recipe and deconstructs it to feature one of the unique hop varieties. To taste the unique character of each hop in a sampling flight[,] start from 1 to 5, saving Latitude 48 IPA for last to taste all 5 hops in one."; "A single hop version of Latitude 48 IPA"; "This single hop IPA is brewed using only Mosaic hops. These distinctive American hops contribute subtle fruit notes of pineapple & Mandarin orange along with hints of eucalyptus. These delicate notes are complimented by the sweetness of the malt. Growing Region: Yakima Valley, WA"

I Pop!ped the cap and employed a relatively gentle pour due to the relative age of the beer. I need not have been concerned as the clarity remained button-bright and I even got a finger of tawny head out of it, albeit brief. Nose was sweet, slightly minty, more malty than hoppy, but look at what the label said. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-plus quality clarity. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was pronounced in terms of its maltiness, but I was still experiencing a fruitiness that led me to wonder just how "subtle" it was in the first place. The finish was semi-sweet, which seemed odd for an AIPA, but again, the label's notes left me curious as to what they were trying to achieve.

"This single hop IPA is brewed using only Mosaic hops. These distinctive American hops contribute subtle fruit notes of pineapple & mandarin orange along with hints of eucalyptus. These delicate notes are complemented by the sweetness of the malt." Brewed in the style of an American IPA. Released as part of the Latitude 48 Deconstructed IPA variety pack, available in 12 oz. bottles.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Samuel Adams Sensory Pint glass. Served above 52º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy foam biscuity white head over a maple orange body with high clarity, flecks of sediment in tow and ample lively carbonation. Retention is above average. 3.75

(Smell) The Mosaic hop generates a bold dose of uncommon tropical fruit and citrus notes, mango, pineapple, tangerines and oranges, with lesser notes of grapefruit, lemon and pine. The hop itself is a very potent and strong hop and dominates the nose, leaving very little space for the paler malt body to be noticed. Potency is medium/high. 3.75

(Taste) The flavor is a bit more muted on the hop front than the aroma would suggest, with mild juicy tropical fruits and less citrus character shining through. Mango, tangerine and mild grapefruit form an enjoyable but relaxed hop profile, and what was an aromatically repressed malt base is now able to shine through, a fairly simple pale malt base with some caramel syrup sweetness and a pinch of bread malt for body, equally flavorful. The Mosaic hop steals the show, as expected. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) The texture is slick, mildly oily, medium dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a medium frothiness and moderate crispness. Body is medium for the style, medium overall. Balance is slightly bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is low and there are no off flavors. 3.5

(Overall) I love the Mosaic hop for its very wild and unique flavor characteristics and feel that it's the next big thing in hops if it isn't already here. Many breweries local and big names are finding ways to integrate Mosaic into their hop selections, and Latitude 48 IPA was retooled about a year ago to integrate this cutting-edge hop into the flavor. The only downside to this hop is that it fades quickly with time- so enjoy it as fresh as possible. This is one of the more enjoyable beers in the Deconstructed pack for its flavor potential. 3.75

A: This poured a clear dark gold with some off white head.
S: It smelled like pineapple and sweet grapefruit, with some floral hops and sweet honey malt.
T: It tasted like pineapple and apricot and grapefruit, with some honey malt. It had a clean bitter and sweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was a great IPA, with delicious tropical scent and taste. The body was weak but the finish was smooth, so it was easy to drink. By far the best piece to the Latitude 48 puzzle.
