While at the Denver Rare beer event I tried this one. Clear brown appearance with absolutely no head. Aroma is a smooth brandy with a cherry accent. Taste is also a brandy with a cherry accent that is a smooth warmth as it goes down. Remarkable.

hard not to admire something like this, as much as it will never be anyones favorite beer, they create a lot of hype and prestige around the utopias with the crazy bottles and outlandish prices, its becomes sort of a cult thing, and it has my interest. i genuinely liked the original, and its cool to get a chance to try this special cherry edition, i cant imagine there is much of this out there. the pour is interesting, i mean, its so absurdly thick as to not really be attractive as beer, but it fascinates me enough to find it appealing, more science than sex appeal though. the aroma is pure booze at first, it takes a few deep sniffs to appreciate it anything other than huffing ether. liquid lumber, straight bourbon whiskey, and a hot medicinal booze soaked cherry, sweet caramel and toffee, light char, english bready yeast but somehow different obviously at this strength, but quite complex and complete too, surprisingly appetizing. the flavor is all of the above with suggestions of cigar, red apple, molasses, cognac and port, and like its half beer half whiskey. the cherry actually comes through it really well, shockingly. its sweet for sure, but there is some baked pie character, some light tang, and its very compatible with the woody maturity, and it really adds a lot of length to a already mile long flavor trajectory. this is unque stuff, obviously hot as can be, but a nice sipper, more nuanced i think then the original, the cherry adds a lot. it tastes old too, in a good way, but i dont know when this was actually brewed. better than a novelty, id drink this again if the opportunity presented itself...

FoBAB. This beast clocked in at 28% apv. Naturally it was all heat up front. What amazed me was how strong and solid the cherry flavor was at the end.

FoBAB. Crazy beer. Very boozy, almost like a cherry liqueur. Burned at the front, but not as much as expected on the back. Very cool to try but wouldn't want much more than 2 oz.
