Typically brewed for the Wellfleet Oyster fest, this Irish style stout is brewed with real oysters. Super interesting beer that has a nice deep dark color with a brownish frothy head. Scent wise, I did not get too much, but kind of has that Guinness smell that I can’t describe better than that. Taste wise, you get some coffee notes and a nice dry finish. A salty note is there too from the oysters. All in all a great beer that lairs particularly well with oysters.

Had on tap at BBC Cedarville
Appearance: dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head, opaque, moderate carbonation

Smell: caramel and chocolate

Taste: dark chocolate with caramel, and burnt malt

Mouthfeel: medium body, low carbonation, sweet with slight roasty bitterness

Drinkability: A solid stout with enough sweetness. Nothing great but certainly drinkable. Worth a try, but I will probably go to other Sam Adams offerings first.

I tired this beer this summer when I visited the Cape (beautiful area). I got it at the book store restaurant if anyone is familiar with that place.

The appearance was nothing out of the ordinary. It was a very dark brown and the head was flowing over the top which in my opinion is not a bad thing.

Nutty and burnt wood sent with a slight coffee essence

It tastes nothing like oysters first of all which i didn't expect anyways but you honestly wouldn't know that it was brewed with Oysters. It had a very dry aftertaste with a strong taste of dark chocolate and coffee.

Overall this was an ok Stout but it was nothing special I just had to try it because of the oyster thing haha.

Drank on-tap at the Wellfleet OysterFest, Wellfleet, MA
Served in a plastic cup

According to my server, this beer is made by Sam Adams once a year for the Wellfleet OysterFest. What a treat.

As for the beer, it poured a dark brown/black color with a thin, bubbly, light brown head that quickly faded to a flimsy collar.

The aroma was moderately roasty. Indications of black coffee and dark chocolate were noticeable. As the beer warmed, some sweet, treacle-like notes came through as well.

The taste was quite good. Dark roast coffee was apparent. Bakers chocolate came through in the center. Subtle smoky notes appeared as well. The finish was dry, minerally and a touch ashy.

The mouthfeel was medium-light with a fine and mild effervescence.

Drinkability was rather impressive. This oyster stout was quaffable yet full of flavor. It made the perfect accompaniment to the dozen bivalves I picked up at the fest.
