12 oz bottle poured into my pokal glass. Has a nice fluffy white head over an inch thick when poured. Settles to a good 1/8 inch after awhile. Has a nice ring lining the inside of the glass with good lace. Has a nice floral, citrusy aroma. Has a good somewhat sweet malt flavor upfront followed by a nice citrus, floral, bitter hop flavor. The sweet maltiness comes out more as the beer warms up a bit. Has a good smooth, crisp, clean, medium bodied mouthfeel with fairly light carbonation. Very easy to drink. Excellent and spot on for the style.

Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass. Beer is a very pale yellow color with near perfect clarity. It has a white head that retains for only a few minutes than leaves better than average lacing down the whole glass. The smell is pretty average, smells of light grain and some hops. It's not strong at all, but I never found this style to have potent smells anyway. The taste is a slight step up. Tastes of some grain and hops, stronger than the smell. Again, it's not incredibly potent, but pretty good. Mouthfeel is light, crisp, clean, and refreshing. Drinkability is very good, borderline a perfect summer beer in my opinion.

Appearance:
Pours out bright straw yellow with light carbonation and a pillowy white head that falls to thin fuzz and leaves spotty residue on the glass.

Smell:
Has a thin malty nose with hints of hops and grass. Not a huge presence.

Taste:
Very typical pilsner with light grain and hop. Finishes slightly bitter and dry. Also has a twinge of carbonation taste. Again, nothing too dramatic.

Mouthfeel:
Light to medium body with a very crisp carbonation, not sharp but not smooth...

Drinkability:
Not typically a pilsner guy but this is drinkable and I could handle a few. Better than a macro alternative.

Comment:
Got this with a "Sample B Ale" from my uncle. Do not get them confused, the other is in my opinion, much better.

Poured form bottle into a small plastic tasting cup.

Golden yellow in color, with a strong but not overwhelming spicy and flowery noble hop flavor and aroma.

Crisp and refreshing (but not thin) mouthfeel. Perfect beer for a warm summer day, when you want something that's thrist quenching yet flavorful.

Definetly a Bohemian Pilsner style, and NOT an APA.

Voted for this one over the Ale @ the boston brewery. Hopefully it gets released to the public soon!!

GLowing yellow color, not much head here since it was in a small cup. A lot of flavor here. Some mellow hops and malt here. Medium-light body. Easy summer drinking beer. I voted for this since SA does not have a Pilsner. I think it would be a good add to the line up.

2oz sample in a plastic cup at a SA Beer Lover's Choice tasting - Big Z Beverage Huntington, NY on 8/1/09.

Clear yellow color with a white head.
The aroma was a bit grassy, all noble hops I was told by the SA rep.
The taste was very good, malty and German tasting with a nice touch of bitterness on the finish.
Light/medium bodied with good carbonation.
Goes down real easy.

This beer got my vote and I hope to see it in the SA line up in time for next summer.

I had this last night, the label said Sam Adams Sample Bottle #2....Pilsner.I guess this and an ale brewed with three different hop varieties were being considered for a new release and this won out.Poured into a standard pint glass a lighter straw color with a nice tight one finger head.Aromas were toasty with a bit of honey,a faint herbal not as well.A little sweeter than most pilsners I think, honey flavors with some cereal-like grainy notes, the hops a really pretty subdued with a light herbal/grassy finish.I tried the other sample and was really impressed, this was decent.

American Pale Ale...what?

Part of the new Beer Lover's Choice 2009.

Poured from a bottle into a small cup.

The color is a yellowish gold with a slight white head.

The smell is pretty citrus with some piney hop flavor.

The taste is a bit crisp and a bit spicey. Some malty pilsner taste. Some nice citrus feel and some hints of sweet malt flavor.

The feel of this beer is light with a medium body.
