From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This solid brew
pours a deep ruby tinged amber with a white head of foam that sizzles
to a faint ring. Nose of bourbon, spicy rye whiskey, rich caramel, subtle
vanilla, light oak notes, and strong astringent booze. Flavors are more
than the equal the sum of it's parts. Rich caramel, light brown sugar,
mellow rye whiskey, rich bourbon, medium light oak, mild vanilla,
and light breaded malts with touches of orchard fruits of light cherry
and faint peach. Nice mouth feel; light carbonation with a subtle
effervescence and prickly warming booze, medium body, smooth
as silk---drinks like a mellow brandy, and finishes moderately sweet
and fairly dry from the booze.
Overall, if a barley wine aged in whiskey and bourbon barrels had a
child with an Oktoberfest.....this is that offspring.
Rich, complex, warming, and inviting. This one would be lovely
cellar aged for a year or so and would be more than welcome to
be sampled again.
An excellent brew, we are lucky to have gotten some in a growler no
less.
Cheers

Had it at the taproom.
Deep amber color with a thin head.
Aroma and taste is very boozy but it carries a nice oak note.
Does not drink like a usual Märzen, medium to full body.
Certainly an interesting take on the traditional style, I like it.
