A dark lager with complex malt character and a subtle hint of smokiness imparted by beechwood smoked malts.

On tap at the Sam Adams Jamaica Plain taproom in Boston, MA.

This one pours a golden brown-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like smoked honey or smoked caramel, toasted breadiness, and black tea.

This is really well done. The smoke level is light here – I wouldn’t imagine Sam Adams going full inferno on any of their beers, and the light smoke works well. The smoke adds a little twist to an already good base dunkel – bready, creamy, lightly sweet, with just a hint of tea-like bitterness.

This is creamy but light bodied, with a really nice drinkability overall.

The Sam Adams taproom in Boston itself has some pretty cool beers that you’re not gonna get in every other grocery store in America.
