On tap at Max's.

The beer pours a copper amber color with good head retention and lacing. The beer smells pretty good, what I get of it. It mostly consists of some light cereal grains, a hint of malt and maybe some very iight dry citrus. On the palate, the beer isn't too bad, and really does remind me of a lightweight, English old ale. There's some nice cherry, vanilla, cookie dough and apple on the palate, with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, and the finish is clean and moderately long. Alcohol is well diguised, and this seems like an easy to enjoy and drink beer from SA.

Shrug... to be honest, this really doesn't taste all that different from the standard boston lager. Still, it's a nice enough beer from SA, and one I'd consider buying again if I were to ever spot it at some airport bar. Otherwise....

Had it on tap at World of Beer in Charlotte, NC. I was expecting more of the barrel-aged character to come through. If anything it was a little weak. It was still a fine beer and you could smell the barrel-aged whiskey kick come through, but it was lacking in the taste.

Happen to be drinking this beer snd enjoying it when i hear a Sammy rep is near by. He tells me the beer is in the 5.5 range. Not sure if that is before or after its little jaunt in the barrel. To me I would guess about 7.5% alc.
The beer is poured into a snifter of translucent copper color. It smells like bourbon a bit more than beer. I pick up quite a bit of vanilla and bourbon. Other things going on with spicing like a bit of nutmeg. Its an easy drinking beer and not in your face with the flavors and spices. Very sessionable since its so smooth. Good job Sammy.

The bar I had this beer at didn't have any other info on it. I'm just guessing at the style, please correct as necessary. Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear medium amber-brown color with about a half-inch of off-white head that quickly dissipated and left no lacing.

The aroma had some malty grain and a bit of sweetness, but no oak showed up and there wasn't any hop counter balance. The flavors were mostly the same, although a slight hop presence showed up in the middle of the tongue.

The was decently medium, not heavy or light. Drinkability was OK, smooth and mostly featureless. Overall, kind of a meh beer. Try it for the tick.
