From notes 2/23/13: Pours a hazy deep gold producing a shy 2 fingers of off-white, somewhat lasting, mostly tight head that leaves a thin sheet of lace. Aroma is a sherbet-like creamy sweetness, bready wheat, weak hints of pale and pilsner malts with notes of apricot, lemon and orange zest; spice and a hint of butter deep in the background.Taste is bread, dough, thin peach pie, some citrus with the same creamy sweetness of the nose, finishing slightly acidic and peppery but rapidly overtaken by sweet. Can't pick up the coriander in the nose or mouth. Somewhat like I think a peachy, slightly citrus wheat beer milkshake might taste like. Too sweet for my taste. Aftertaste is bready and sweet. Mouthfeel is heavy bodied, thick, syrupy, mouth coating finish with moderate but active carbonation.

Bottle to pint glass
Aroma...spice, nutmeg,orange, lemon.
Look...Cloudy yellow orange. Medium White head., anise, wheat. a little watery.
Feel... a little pasty, but not thick.

Good beer. Not a true Belgian White, which is Not necessarily bad, Similar to Blue Moon Belgian White, with a bit more character.

It pours a slightly opaque, dark golden color with a thin, white, frothy head. It has a pretty strong scent of fruit and coriander typical of Belgian style beers. The flavor is actually quite complex, especially for a Sam Adam’s beer. It has orange, coriander, pepper, and wheat as its primary taste. It has a very crisp, refreshing finish for a Belgian. Is maybe not as complex and the flavor isn’t quite as bold or lingering as some, but not bad. Despite the criticism, I think this is a solid Sam Adam’s beer and a very fitting in the Spring Variety Pack.

Cloudy orange with thin white head and average retention. Orange, honeysuckle, and herbal aromas. Wheat, citrus and coriander flavors with an herbal lingering. Full mouth feel but low carbonation.

The citrus aroma is nice but the combination of flavors is not appetizing at all. Just a tangerine flavor sticks around. I have to think this was made for people who don't normally like or drink beer.

Looks real good, pretty haze, revealing what is hopefully a good wheat quotient in the equation of this beer. Solid inch of head on it.

Aroma was a hodgepodge mashup of wheat and belgian yeast and clove type of smell. Not bad.
Taste gave up a lot of the wheat and spice cabinet. MIld bitterness, don't know where it came from. High carbonation, good price.

12 oz bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet at about 45F.

Hazy golden-amber body with a rather weak head; streaks of lacing.

Aroma: soft ripe fruit including pears and apricots; yeast and baked bread.

Flavor: slightly sweet up front with some light bitterness appearing in the aftertaste and a bit of tartness mid-taste onwards. Fruity, including citrus, apricot and apple notes.

Feel: smooth, medium body with medium-light carbonation.

Creamy feel moderate carbonation. Strong coriander/spice. Then wheat. Some funk. Sort of dry. One and done is all that is necessary for me. I like cold snap more.

From the bottle. Aroma is wit beer with citrus. Taste is wit beer profile with citrus and a mild spicy finish. Mouthfeel feel is light but satisfying. Overall a drinkabke winter seasonal wheat beer.

Very mild Witbier...I had this one in September, probably beyond the ideal freshness date (spring time). Poured a hazy gold color with a white head. Aroma is citrus and some malt. Taste is primarily orange and tangerine and is slightly sweet. There is some spiciness involved, coriander and Grains of Paradise ( the Summer Ale has more of the peppery Grains of Paradise).

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Not a bad summer drink but lacking the complexity of a good Witbier.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a weizen glass. Hazy as per the style, a dull yellow-orange with around one finger of lacy white head clinging to the sides of the glass. Aroma bright and citrusy, orange, tangerine, lemon, and lime rinds with a little pineapple, woody seed spice, candied ginger, and faint grassy hops. These same elements echo on the palate. Minimal malt/wheat flavor here, with this eschewed in favor of citrus soda, ginger, very light coriander (Sam Adams does a good job of not overdoing this with their wits), and an odd metallic sweetness. Fizzy, with a curiously empty body and a saccharine metallic finish. Sam Adams brews a number of witbier variations and this is not one of the stronger takes. Great aroma and an OK showcase for the citrus and spice flavors but lacking in body and malt backbone.

Poured from the 12 ounce bottle into a Hefeweizen glass. poor is a beautiful opaque golden orange color obviously unfiltered. Smell is very rich of spices citrus slight coriander. the order is someone intoxicating but I believe it is a false pretense to the actual flavor of the beer. Flavor is of sweetness and bitterness at roughly the same time definite taste of coriander right at the beginning it fades away into a gravelly carbonated finish. not feel as I said it was very carbonated and it goes down slightly gravelly. All in all it is an average beer. Not Sam Adams' best.

Samuel Adams White Lantern brewed by Boston Beer Company with an ABV of 5.5% This brew pours out cloudy amber color with a small, white head. White Lantern is an unfiltered brew; you can not see thought it. The smell is rich with grains, spices ,and a hit of bitterness. So far this brew is ok. Now for the taste, it is smooth with some citrus. The mouthfeel is nice, clean, and refreshing. This brew has a nice balance to it, I would get this brew again. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4 out 5 .

Just as the label says, spices and citrus peel with an excellent aftertaste. One of my all time favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed it. How long do these comments have to be before the bros at beer advocate will accept it??? I'm not the best taste analyzer so have mercy on me ba!

ured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Purchased as part of a 12 pack from a Publix grocery store in Savannah, GA. Appearance- this witbier is a cloudy golden orange . Large white head that stayed with the beer for some time. Smell- sharp citrus aroma, that I personally enjoy. Taste- could definitely taste the citrus and wheat, not a bad combo at all. This is a very enjoyable summer brew that I would drink again. Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, clean, and slightly tart. Overall: A decent light wheat ale with some nice citrus and coriander notes.

This is an ok beer, but I feel nothing really makes it stand out. I enjoyed drinking it, and it goes well with food, but it didn't have a strong taste of its own. A pretty standard witbier, I did like the smell, which smelled a bit sweet, and went with the flavor well.

This is a cloudy medium gold beer with a substantial head on top of it--really good pour in this chalice glass. The nose is sweet--reminds me of cheerios. Rather bit of an odd candy-citrus flavor, but not unpleasant. The flavor though, doesn't really taste anything like a real wit. I can't find any coriander to taste. The citrus is like the nose--odd. The yeast character is a little fruity, but barely. Not a very drinkable beer.

S - Light aroma with off smells, lemony smells

T - Orange flavor with grapefruit and off flavors, disappears quickly with maltyness lingering

M - Watery and slick, very light carbonation

O - Very poorly done or I had an off product but I was well within the freshness date. Not a whole lot here. Tastes like a dull malt

12oz bottle, another new offering around here, through the good graces of the Sam Adams summer mixed-pack.

This beer pours a cloudy, but bright medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of tightly foamy and slightly creamy ecru head, which leaves little beyond a few wayward specks of islet lace around the glass as things bleed off.

It smells of edgy coriander and peppery, musty grains of paradise spice, gritty pale and wheat malt, a not insignificant semi-sweet mixed citrus character, and some grassy, kind of herbal hops. The taste is pretty consistent with the aroma - aggressive sweet n' savoury spice, in the form of coriander, deconstructed grains of paradise (pepper and dried citrus rind, mostly), a generic yeastiness, muddled, but still quite level-headed wheat malt, and a growing lemongrass essence, which may or may not be wholly attributable to the difficult to discern hops.

The carbonation is not overly intense, just a pleasant frothiness for the most part, the body an adequate medium weight for the style, and plainly smooth, if at all. It finishes still kind of sweet, the wheat malt, mixed spice, and sedate citrus colluding as such on my various palates.

Very much a newbie sort of witbier, the spice and fruit treated with way less subtle deference than the stars of the style. That's not to say that this isn't good - it is - it's just that I get too much of that American, hit me over the head with the amped-up versions of the aspects that should duly be left as they are, thing. Dare I say, 'chick' - no, cross that, ok, 'hipster' beer?

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Shock Top Wietbier glass.

The color is a hazy/cloudy yellow with a tint of orange and three fingers of foamy white head that left a slight of lacing on the glass.

The smell is pretty tangy with a big orange and tangerine aroma. There is a slight lemongrass aroma there as well that adds to the spicy citrus twang.

The taste has more of a wheat presence then the aroma. The bready flavor is the big factor here with some tangerine or orange rind toward the back. There is a slight bitterness in the back but does not impart much to the flavor.

The feel of this beer is light bodied and goes down pretty easy. There is a nice slight crisp feel and is nice and smooth going down.

A: Cloudy apricot hue with a thin film of a head; lacing is okay

S: Orange peel, tangerine; some peppery spice; also a musty, grainy--somewhat bready--undertone

T: Better complexities in the flavors than the aromas: some orange and other citrus with subtle cloves and pepper; they work well off the subtle grassy, grainy malt undertone

F: A bit thin--especially in the finish; there is a pleasant creaminess up front

O: A refreshing beer: I wish the aroma and mouth feel matched up with the flavors because it's actually pretty tasty

Color- straw gold. Minimal head.

Aroma- wheat, spices including coriander and rose petal.

Taste- A lackluster and disappointing wit beer interpretation. Starts wheaty with spices and orange zest but finishes placid with a lingering staleness.

Poured from 355 ml bottle into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted 9/2/2013.
