American style pale ales are defined by the use of American grown hops. The hop profile of Flagship APA includes an upfront bitterness complemented with citrus and pine-like aromas followed by a small burst of tropical fruit. Malted barley provides a deep auburn color and a sweet, biscuit-like, backbone that helps the flavor balance nicely with the bitterness from the hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a hoppy and crisp finish making this quenching offering the perfect accompaniment to your favorite pub food.

Had this on site before a Postmodern Jukebox show, and it was all right. Little biscuity, mildly bitter and woody, slight pine and rind of grapefruit and orange.

Picked this up a few weeks back at the Fairway in Nanuet, having never had this before. I enjoyed the other beer that I had from Flagship and also liked how the color scheme on the bottle and package was similar to that on the New York license plate. This certainly fit the bill as an APA but the balance was a little bit too much in favor of the malt, which kept this beer from being rated higher.
This had a nice hue to as it poured a radiant almond brown with a moderate head and just a bit of lacing the quickly slid down the side of my pint glass. Not quite clear, there was just a hint of sediment floating in this but only when looked at upon closer inspection. Caramel malt, earthy hops, and stark pine were in the nose as the bread took over a bit more in the taste. The hops were quite acrid as they hit up front, with the slick mouthfeel allowing the other flavors to easily sink in. Crisp and bright, there was a lot to enjoy here as the up front flavors kicked in from time to time throughout my drinking session.
While just a bit too strong, the alcohol could only be felt and not tasted. It almost felt like a Yards brew because there was a hint of grainy rye in the midst of all of this as the tropical fruits never really kicked in. Too much citrus pith gave this more volume than was needed but from start to finish, this was a nice take on the style that stood out from other domestic takes on an APA. Worth a go for hopheads looking for a change from the typical beer!

Deep amber to burgundy in color. Pine bitterness is the first thing that the aroma brings to mind with damp bread lingering. Nice malt/hop balance leaning a touch towards the malts.

Staten Island with a good homegrown beer. How about that?
Had this on draft at Danny Blaine's.
Solid APA character; good hops and malt profile. Could be a bit fuller-bodied, but all in all a beer you can drink all day.
