Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium to dark orange red with a two finger, fine, nitro white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of bready and lightly biscuit malt, red berries and caramel; inviting. Flavor follows, with bready, lightly toasted biscuit malt, caramel and red berries. Medium bodied with nice nitro creaminess; great mouth feel. This was a quite pleasant surprise; it hits on all cylinders. The nitro pour looks great, the aroma is nice and spot-on as is the taste. This has one of the more smooth finishes of any Irish red ales I've had, which often have a light astringency in the finish. Flavors aren't intense, but solid for a modest ABV ale like this. I'm apparently a bigger fan of this than other reviewers here, but I liked this a lot. I'm going to watch for a chance at this brewery's stouts and brown ale. Nicely done.
