Ignore the weirdly bad reviews. This is a decent example of its style: a black lager.
Look- possibly too brown to be a true dark larger: comes out light to dark brown.
Smell: well, it smells like a lager: not a huge amount of aroma.
Taste: It's a pretty good dark lager. It has a good bitterness, with an intriguing malt sweetness.
Feel: medium carbonation: not a thick mouth feel at all: but THIS IS A LAGER. I think this is where the other reviewers have gone wrong, and expected it to be a porter or something.
Overall: Yeah, pretty decent. Would I buy again: perhaps. It's certainly refreshing in hot weather. For when you can't be arsed with a dark ipa (which is preferable to my palate in every way), but still want a decent beer.

A pleasant surprise. I just wrote a review explaining my considerably higher than average rating, but somehow neglected to save it. So one review is all I write for one beer.
On to the brewer review... of which B & U (or "Union" as they seem to be called now) has an interesting story. They started twelve years ago working with regional brewers creating brews they liked. Today, they distribute a handful. I bet it is still hard work, particularly since New Black made it all the way to a London supermarket where I found it.

330ml can, unfiltered.
L: Dark brown with a thin, off-white cap. But for some lacing it could be mistaken for a cola.
S: A bit of malt but not much.
T: Not much flavour either. Sweet, slightly malty, but mainly just sweet.
F: Light body, light carbonation, short finish, watery.
O: Would prefer to drink a cola. Thin & largely tasteless. Poor.

330ml can from Waitrose London. BB: 26/4/19
L Simple, it's as darker as Coke, and similarly pours with a tan head that clears almost instantly.
S Indistinct to me but therefore nothing to positively dislike.
T There is a bitter yet sweet, yet sour edge to this, it's bad. Like 1/2 Coke + 1/2 cheap stout mixed.
M It's like a flavoured soda. Thin sweet and gassy, with little more to it. Not pleasant.
O Is this some painfully fashionable hipster beer? I'm struggling to imagine who might enjoy it. - No, I'm never drinking this again.
