Larnaka 23/7 2017. 33 cl bottle from Alphamega Hypermarket at the outskirts of Larnaka. Quite cool design with transparent label giving the impressin that theres is a Sun floating around in the center of the bottle.

Pours clear yellow with great white head. Settles as 2,5 cm thick layer of fluffy foam. Lacing on the side of the glass.

Aroma has a little fruitiness, malty sweetness and hints of lemonade.

Low carbonation and watery palate.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by distinct medium strong bitterness.

A very nice version of a Pale Lager - the ubiquitous beer of the mediterranean - with a little frutiness and good bitterness.

Poured a 330ml brown bottle into a pilsner glass. A solid one finger fine white head on a clear light gold. The head diminishes to a persistent layer. Lots of fine lacing.

A good malt smell. Some corn. The taste is malt forward. Slightly sweet and spicy. A slightly watery, cloying finish. mild hop flavour but low bitterness.

A medium/light body and good carbonation. Overall a decent European Pale lager. Better than most Mediterranean lagers. True to the style.

My second from Nissos and I'm glad they are still pushing the needle in Greek brewing, particularly on tourist islands. Since my first in 2019, Nissos has improved its website and brags a few more awards. They also make a pitch for science which can only help society. All good and for that, I give Nissos good Overall Hugs.

I really don't taste the organic difference here; but this is a good lager either for lunch or for a session by a pool. For lunch, I drank this with bread and tzatziki. For the session, I may have to wait until tomorrow as we just got to Rhodes and our resort is a bit isolated and has a limited selection.

Nissos Organic Looks slightly above average, a little foam and a little lace sticks around. Smells are mostly malt but I get a melange of herbs and, because it is the season, some faint apples wafting. Tastes are balanced, with a minor dryness emerging in the finish. Medium-mouthed; soft for an otherwise bubbly lager. Try for lunch or to keep your liquids elevated poolside.

330ml bottle - oh boy, 'organic'. Code for banal and super-uninteresting, in my experience.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent thick tree copse lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, a further biscuity breakfast cereal thing, lager yeast, underripe apple and pear fruity notes, some hard water flintiness, and very tame leafy, weedy, and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, white saltine crackers, a muddled domestic citrus fruitiness, wet stone paths after a hard rain, and more understated leafy, musty, and grassy verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-pleasing frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and genuinely smooth, with a small aerosol creaminess evolving shortly after take-off here. It finishes off-dry, the general cereal character predominating.

Overall - for something whose name isn't exactly all that inspiring, this comes off as rather flavourful and engaging, and something that I would consider sessioning were it the local offering on a sunny Mediterranean seaside patio. Beats the hell out of Mythos, IMHO.
