On tap at Stoneyard Beer Hall and Grill in Webster, NY.
This pours a pretty dark reddish brown, with a small head, and no lacing.
Smells surprisingly reticent for the ABV here- not a whole lot jumps out. I get some definite dark fruit, and peat, but that's about it.
This is definitely tasty- don't get me wrong. But it feels pretty muted and average, unfortunately. I expected more of a flavor blast for the ABV, but it feels simple. There's definitely some dark dried fruit flavor, and a hint of peat, but I wish there was more malt richness here. Some time aging in some sort of barrel could help out the complexity, possibly.
This is medium bodied, a bit creamy, pretty thick, with a normal level of carbonation for the style/ABV (read, lower).
This was a little bit disappointing- expected much more out of it. Doesn't mean it wasn't still tasty- though. No flaws, just unexciting.
