Can purchased and drank at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a mostly clear golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells pretty piney, but also pretty malty, with some definite grassy-like astringency.
I wanted to like this, but Stoneyard has been so inconsistent lately. It’s just too malty, with a weird and boring astringency on the back end. It just kind of feels like some homebrew IPA your friend gives you, that’s like “alright I guess this is fine, it could be a lot of worse” but this is actually made commercially so those flavors aren’t as welcome, I guess.
This is medium bodied, too malty and bitter at the same time on the finish. It’s decently drinkable, like it’s not gross, but I’m not super chuffed to drink it.
I wish I liked Stoneyard as much as I used to, like 6-7 years ago.
