Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip. This is the 2016 Rex, brewed for Mardi Gras; evidently they change the recipe subtly every year. This year it's 6.2%.

Appearance: rich golden hue with a dash of haze and a light effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy ivory foam.

Smell: light, floral and every so subtly toasty. It's not an in-your-face saison; it's lilting and vernal as befitting the season.

Taste: toastier than the aroma, along with that same springtime floral character. More reminiscent of a bière de garde to me, but still quite enjoyable.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and a highly voluminous creaminess. Shazam!

Overall: this beer is toned-down enough that it ends up being quite refreshing and quaffable. Good stuff.
