The appearance was a slightly hazy brown/red. A light slim finger-ed white head shows its presence and gently dissipated. But barely any lacing shows.
The smell had some toasty malt and nutty characteristics blending into some caramel and toffee.
The taste copied the aroma nicely.
The mouthfeel had about a light to medium on the body with a decent smooth sessionable feel. Bitterness wants to show some oomph, but really doesn't.
Overall, well, its a brown ale alright, just nothing special.

Growler fill from the brewery. Brown ale with a hint of pumpkin pie spice on top of a nice malt backbone. Initial pour yields a high, foamy head. Murky orange copper body, spicy nutty aroma. Taste is sweet, spicy and bitter all at the same time. Bitter finish. Nice harvest beer without going overboard on the pumpkin pie flavors.

Draft from the brewery... Last night and tonight... Pours a slightly hazy light brown/red... I bet this is pretty with improved clarity.. Light khaki head shows nice retention. This is one of the most toasty malt and nutty (to a lesser extent) brew I have had in a long time.. unapologetic and surprisingly malty without ever verging on sweetness.. A pretty brutal bitterness (board says only 40 IBU) does what it can to help balance... I'm told Magnums were used for bittering, but IMO a bit more hop flavor would help add some complexity. Good body and drinkability, just a little weird.
