This brew is a true winter warmer, malt forward yet dangerously balanced for an 8.5% ABV beer. It pours a nice ruby brown color and provides a rich, deep taste with hints of raisins, cocoa, and biscuit malt. After a couple of sips the warming effect will rosy up your cheeks and hopefully perk up your spirits. I’ve been waiting all year to say this, so come on down to the brewery and grab a Witch’s Tit. Cheers, Lance!

leave it to my homie to order a pint of this sort of thing on a hot june evening, odd that they even have this on tap this time of year, but when you are a beer enthusiast i guess you order the most ambitious thing on the menu regardless of seasonality, and this actually scratched an itch for me i didnt know i even had, a nice malty strong ale, why not?! i believe they have renamed it cold comfort, probably motivated by these times of reevaluating the industry and its now popular history of sexism, smart choice i would say. the beer remains awesome, rich leathery sweet and earthy complexion of molasses and brown sugar, raisin and date, plum and bourbon, sticky buns and root beer. it tastes like it smells, its complex, warming, and it comes up to temperature with increasing complexity. there might be an english yeast strain in here adding some breadiness, and it has a longer boiled vibe, concentrated, like an old ale or barleywine, sort of a baby version of those to me. weighty but not huge in body, maybe a little big for a pint glass, but its a great recipe and its been well executed. sometimes its fun to drink off season, and this certainly is that right now. fun and delicious.

Great winter ale with a real nice kick. This is sure to warm a person up after strolling through the city. Nice balance to satisfy the palate.

Pours out a deep, dark brown with small foamy head. Malt mostly in the aroma, some dried fruit, and a hint of savory spice. Taste also favors the malt, other flavors blend in the background. Warmth without burn. Sweet finish with a hint of spice.

Pours a dark brown with a light tan 1" head... Good retention and lacing... Nose is dry roasty malt, mildly astringent... Smells like a big boned porter with perhaps some spices.. Nutmeg? Flavor is better with a good residual sweetness that helps balance.. cocoa with warmth.. Not bad at all.. Just not exactly my cup of tea. No hints of EtOH despite the higher ABV... Boise Brewing is getting better and better... Props.
