this is real light, but also not super dialed in to me on the ferment, just a little weird, and almost more in that paler festbier range to me, good clarity and shine, short white head from the tap, looks more or less the part. aroma is slightly astringent to me through the sweet malt base, like the yeast was stressed or not done working or underpitched or run too warm or some combination of those factors, its not bacterial but its not clean either, and it doesnt even really taste german to me on the lager yeast side, something less than that, although the munich malt seems right on, and the rest of this more traditional. some minerality pushing metallic as it warms, but the body stays light and this is drier than it smells, just some slight tang on the finish. subtle notes of almond, honey, and dark bread, along with more yeast as it sits, still mellow overall, fine but not amazing, maybe lacking a little of that technical attention to detail that makes the imported versions so appealing every year, his has a ways to go to get to that level...

In tap at brewery. Right in the zone, big malts in both aroma and taste. Sticky clear orange/amber body, airy head disappears fast. On target for this seasonal style.

Couple of pints tonight at the brewery.. Clear orange light orange with with a short lived frothy white head.. Nice solid Oktoberfest... Dry toast with some background malt complexities and just hints of earthy hops... Fairly clean and very drinkable.. Definitely "American" if that makes sense.. Fresh and robust for the style. I like it a bunch and I am German lager snob.

4's across the board.
