Bomber from the brewery split into snifters.

Pours a very dark brown/black with a dark brown head & decent glass lacing. Upfront chocolatey coffee and roasty notes; balanced bitterness with sweetness. The palate follows, lots of roasty coffee and oatmeal within a layer of milk chocolate. Medium fluffy body. A very good coffee oatmeal stout.

Can from Boise Co-op. Ebony pour with one finger creamy beige head. Chocolate prominent in the aroma. Roasty, dark chocolate, hint of coffee in the taste. Smooth, creamy, mild bitterness. Really nice

a flavorful stout with some coffee added in, smooth and drinkable, and while it feels pretty sturdy, even dense, it hides its alcohol strength extremely well. coal black with a short head on it from the tap, aroma of fresh brewed drip coffee and roasted barley, simple really, but nicely layered and the coffee adds a lot, a dark chocolate note, a certain cozy warmth, and a little more bitterness than we get from the grain alone, which i always like in the stronger beers in this field. the coffee is fresh in the taste but the base stout is pretty robust in its own right, lots of dark grain character giving off coffee notes itself, and with a bit of sweeter bready malt in the middle before the coffee really kicks up. smooth in feel, not sweet but lingering long on the palate after the swallow, lots of body, a creamy sort of texture, and high drinkability for what this is. one of the better beers i have had from these guys so far, but i have not seen it outside of the brewery yet. i really liked this one.

edit: new cans look super sharp! i always forget this is a little stronger, it doesnt drink like that, the oats smooth it out like crazy. now to me it has a little finishing funkiness, maybe from coffee going stale, but maybe from the ferment too, i doubt its intentional, but i dont hate it, in fact it makes this kind of unique, and definitely adds to how dry it drinks, drier now than i remember from the past. solid stuff.

12-ounce can obtained as a trade extra. Modestly rich in body and tone for a mid-ABV coffee stout. Earthy dark-roasted coffee on the aroma, with good malt on the grains and a backdrop impression of dark chocolate. Occasional hint of peanut butter on the nose, likely a nutty note from the coffee as well.
