i have liked the other lighter beer types i have had in here, but this is the first lager i have had if i remember correctly, and i reckon that these guys execute just about everything really well, even if their beer may not be the most ambitious in town, its almost always good. this is a simple pale lager with a little bit of a clean hoppy finish, but its basic in terms of recipe and ingredients, its just really well made, and obviously patiently lagered, as its super crisp and bright and dry. the lager yeast does have a little flavor to it, but its not as european as i thought it might be, and quite minimal on the grain side too, pale two row barley and a lightly crackery and maybe just softly fruity lager yeast is really all, backed up by a little bit of citrus on the finish from the hops. its a swift drinker, refreshing in feel and all that, but also it has a short trajectory, and moves along quickly on the palate, just dry and clean and balanced. some may like their pils types to be a little more flavorful in terms of grain, yeast, and noble hops, but i think an understated and clean lager like this for the warmer weather is really right on the money. i enjoyed this one on tap on their patio. lovely setting for a crusher like this!
