16oz canned in mid-May and consumed mid-July; beautiful clear gold with nice head and ample carbonation; soft floral character, suggestions of juicy generic fruit-bowl, piney resin, ample bready malt, hint of earthy spice, sweetness more than bitterness, clean crisp body, small dose of dryness, overall just OK, not sure if this one is more explosive fresh, but it’s nothing to write home about now.

Busy day at work today, time to kick back and drink beer. I have consumed a few beers from Boise Brewing. This beer style is a regular IPA the label on the can is misleading. The pour produced a thick two-fingered head. The retention of the beer is above average. Lacing was left on the glass as it dissipated slowly. The head is a creamy off-white. The color of the beer is SRM 8, amber with mahogany hues. The beer is not hazy.

The initial aromas in the beer are oranges, pine, and resin. Nosing further in the glass, I smell malty sweetness, phenols, grapefruit, floral esters, and a touch herbal.

The flavors in the beer are pine, caramel, malty sweetness, resin, oranges, mangos, floral, herbal, herbal, phenolic, and bready.

The mouthfeel of the beer is sticky, coating, and heavy.

The body of the beer is medium, medium-low carbonation, and medium finish.

This beer is terrible. The beer is less than a month old and lacks hops profile. The malt backbone is thick, and the hop profile is hiding. The mouthfeel is unpleasant and sticky sweet. I think this beer is a hybrid and a fail at that. I get mosaic and galaxy hop profiles, but it is weird and awkward. I do not care for this beer.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Hazy, milky pour, straw colored, small rocky head. Citrus on the aroma, oranges and tangerines. Taste is fruity, sweet, almost juicy, slight tropical fruit notes. More sweet than bitter.

a very tasty new one from these guys, who seem to me to be continually improving on their hoppy beers. this is juice forward without being hazy or hard to drink which i like, still some maltiness to it, but more old school crystal than raw and turbid and starchy. aroma is dried apricots, fresh mango, and sweet orange, must be a mix of varietals here, some light pineapple to the taste, dried fruit again, and just a bit of honey character to, some grain sweetness with the oily and floral side of the hops together, balanced and dynamic, not at all heavy, and with shockingly low bitterness for something called an ipa. it has a sort of resinous texture, a bit of body, and just a little alcohol pushing through in the finish, but it still drinks easy, with nice carbonation and a long and slow evolving hop profile, real fruity and fresh. the fermentation is tidy, this has nice layers, and overall i think its one of the better ipa types i have had from these guys. a summery profile in a beer thats still hearty enough for cold weather. well done, great for this time of year.
