16oz canned 9/15 and poured into an IPA nonic; attractive darker-gold pour with moderate haze and a medium/large fluffy off-white tight-bubbled head; solid nose and palate of balanced hops and malt; doesn't lean into one aspect too much, with mellow citrus and tropical fruit and pine, with a more substantial mouthfeel than expected for sub-7%.

not that hazy, and frankly not that great, the first new one i have had from these guys in awhile, and it holds true that they do better with the older school styles, at least in my experience, lights out classics in here, but less so when it comes to their more modern recipes. this tastes a little dusty and overly balanced to me, not as fresh or pungently dry hoppy as i have come to expect from the style, and even though its not really flawed or anything, it just doesnt stand out in terms of quality to the same degree that so many of their other beers do. its not bad, it just tastes kind of generic, like just another hazy because thats what everyone thinks everyone wants. i get some intense citrus up front, more mellow as it moves along, some mild bitterness late, maybe slightly tropical, but there is enough malt to this that it almost presents itself more like a pale. a little fuller feeling, decent overall, but just a beer, and i have come to expect a little more than that from these guys. to be fair, when i had this it was not at all my first hoppy beer of the session and there could be some palate fatigue in play, i will revisit it, but this didnt do too much for me.
