a low calorie ipa here, more flavorful than most, low bitterness but high dry hop, light body but does not seem stripped of anything important for the sake of calorie count, which already makes it better than a lot of these. i am surprised the category is expanding so fast, like that many beer drinkers are thinking about relative calories, or is it all a response to seltzer? who knows. this doesnt hold its head long from the tap, but has awesome carbonation. it has a mosaic forward nose, with canned pineapple and mandarin orange the dominant notes to me, some spiciness there as well, and its kind of earthy from that and from the cereal grains in here, light but not irrelevant. the flavor is juicy, orangey, lightly vinous, and with some meyer lemon notes in the hop profile too, although i still think mosaic is the lead dog. not real complex, but its simplicity lets the freshness stand out, could be slightly cleaner on the ferment, but its close. i like the high carbonation, its necessary in a session type, which is how this drinks, not low calorie or cheap to me in the least, which is very much to its credit. i liked this in a hot weather context, and was happy to see a whole bunch of new flavors when we visited recently, been a little stagnant in here of late, but these new hoppy ones are all pretty solid!
