A brown beer with a creamy head that settles after a couple of minutes.

Smell of chocomalt, roasted with an earthy smell. A light fruitiness of the yeast.

Taste of chocolate malt with some light citric notes, like lemon. The roasted notes are mild and a little like chocolate or coffee, but toned down. A light fruitiness that is typical Belgian with some exotic fruits, like lychee. Very low bitterness. Mouthfeel is sweet and sticky.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle with a best before date of 1/10/11 into a chalice, guess it was old before I purchased from beer store in Brussels for $2.50 Euro. I don't have a fresh one to compare with so here goes.

A-A very murky, chocolately brown color with a scant light tan/cream film head.

S-Rum-raisin, molasses, sweet barley malt dominates. Smells like a fruity dessert. The alcohol aroma is a little more than I would expect. No hops.

T-Lots of overripe, rotten fruit in this one. And it lingers unpleasantly into a sweet/rotten aftertaste. Not good.

M-Thin yet syrupy at the same time. Has a bitter, astringent and sour nasty aftertaste. Tastes like a beer that didn't ferment completely, lacks the dry crisp finish of a good dubbel.

D-poopy

O-A disapointment-pretty much a drain pour. Tastes like it is past it's prime. I'm not sure if this is due to age or if it just isn't a very good dubbel. Probably not a fair rating, I may try again if given a chance to taste a fresher bottle, than again I might just forget about this one, many other dubbels age much better!

Bought this beer a few months ago at the shop in Poppel called the Bierloods. Bottle best before june 2014.

Poured in my struise glass this is a good beer to look at. Nice carbonation a dark brown fluid and a broken white three finger head. Some lacing.

Smell of koriander, not very much, and malt. Soft and a bit sweet taste. Not a bad brew!
