16.9oz bottle, served in a snifter. Bottled in December 2021 - available in the 5th Street Brewpub. American Barleywine finished with orange, cinnamon, and maple.
Appearance: Clear dark copper color. Thin white ring of foam, with some occasional islands of lacing that slowly slild back down the glass.
Smell: Deep and strong malt aroma, with definite maple, orange, and cinnamon mixed in. A little boozy as well.
Taste: Tastes a lot like it smells, but with a lot more sweetness - a bit danish like - with dark fruits, and more of the maple / orange / cinnamon combination. The finish is spicy and lightly bitter to compensate for all the sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Just right carbonation, nicely thick and smooth, spicy and slightly dry finish.
Overall / Drinkability: What a delight! I picked this up earlier this spring on a visit to the Brewpub to have later, and thought it would make for a great "Christmas in July" beer, and I was right. Nicely warming, dangerously drinkable, and I really want to pair this with a dessert of some sort. Truly a well done Barleywine.
