I bought this 500 ml bottle at the brewpub. The label says it is the 2021 vintage, but bottled on 11/16/2023. I bought it within a few months of that date, so it has not aged long in the bottle.
Very attractive, copper-colored beer with great clarity. Impressive head is off-white and consists of extremely fine bubbles that just won't dissipate. The aromas are very nice for the style, with bready malt, caramel, raisins. The flavors are similar, with the addition of some port-like alcohol notes. Maybe not as much depth of nose and flavors as the best examples of English Barleywine, but that is a nit-pick. Medium body and light to medium carbonation. Low hops bitterness, that keeps the sweetness at bay, but just barely. Light alcohol warmth.
This is a very fine English-style Barleywine. It is very well made and a standout from the other beers I had at the brewpub, which were only so-so.
