Bought from Beer Drop as a 32 ounce crowler. This 2021 release is 5.3 ABV. Unfortunately during the UPS shipment, the pop top got a fizzle leak... perhaps losing less than an ounce; but certainly making the ale flat. So, I have to use my imagination to give this a fair rating. On the other hand, a couple of the 2014 ratings appear to be plants. If you want a full and honest review, read StonedTrippin. I often agree with him and do here. This is an odd ale.
Since I found Beer Drop mid-pandemic, I've had at least three dozen brewers from Colorado that I hadn't tried before. I do a little research on each brewer after my first taste. And many of these brewing spirits seem defined by Living The Dream's name. That makes more common what Living The Dream does. They seem like good crafters and seem to be having fun and Living The Dream. But being a Belgian specialist in the Front Range has lots of competition. And as so with Stubborn Monk, Belgian yeasts are a challenge when you are a Mile High. But, keep trying !

i wanted to like this more than i did, on tap at englewood grand last night, its been awhile since i had a beer from these guys, and i kept trying, but i really couldnt get into it. it tastes tired to me, the yeast is off, there is some astringency here as well as an odd tannic acidity that really doesnt belong in the style. the malt flavor is there, the long cooked belgian abbey sweetness, molasses and raisin to it, even dried cherry fruitiness, but the body is not, its thin as can be, lacking the textural richness that i look for in the style. the flavor for the first half is fine until the yeast comes in, some appropriate belgian esters and spice notes, but the almost soured wine aspect is really off to me, and it gets worse as the beer warms up to the extent that the last few sips in my pint glass are undrinkable. i dont know much about this bar, hoping its an issue here and not with the beer, but this one really didnt come through. i have been hearing some good things about these guys, but this could not possibly have generated any positive feedback from beer people...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
