Premium pale malt brew created with faint trappings of Munich and Crystal malts for a rich, complex beer that is lighter in body, clean and refreshing. The inspired use of superior hop varieties in this pilsner-style lager imparts a pleasant, slightly spicy, crisp and balanced finish that is sure to impress.

From older notes:

Slightly amber-hued gold, very clear with fleks here and there. Head is a yellowed white, somewhat foamy, somewhat fizzy, moderate retention. Harsh grainy aroma, smallest tad of floral hops. Palate is thankfully more bready, small amount of grain toward the finish. Hops, again, incredibly subdued. Medium body, medium amount of sudsy carbonation.

Pours clear and with a thinner head of white soapy foam that fell quickly and did not leave any lace. Nose is mild with only a light malty scent. Earth from hop and a touch of sweet floral to highlight the background. Slight dms. No fruity esters from yest, no buttery scent. drinks very well with a pleasant flavor and a lovely balanced hop. Hop finishes the beer crisp and with a bitterness that lasts a little. Has just a little bite from bubble but does finish a bit watery. Saaz hops show a bit of the sweet herbal they are known for as it warms and this was very good.

Like the premise but this beer just falls short as a lager lover. Too much cooked-veggie skunk flavor for my liking.

Dog Tag Brewing "Lager"

I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Impressed even. If the people that go crazy for Yuengling Traditional Lager think that has flavor, they shouldn't even try this because they won't be able to handle it. It has a rich maltiness without being full. The Munich and crystal malts employed give it a depth of character that puts it on par with some of the best German lagers. Following that tradition, they've loaded it with noble hops, Saazer specifically, which give it a spicy, floral, and gently grassy and herbal hoppiness. Again, that's not to say that it's bold, because everything is kept in balance towards a lager of 5.5%, but it's clearly noticeable. The spiciness of the Saazer and a median bitterness balance the character of the malt quite readily, leaving it rounded and drinkable - yet still memorable. I see that it's listed on BA as an "American Pale Lager" but it's really much more than that. I'm not sure I'd change the classification given the options available, but it really leans more towards a Bavarian-style Helles / Euro-pils hybrid. Really nicely done.

A novel concept- each beer is dedicated to a Marine killed in action in either Afghanistan or Iraq, and they claim to donate "a portion of the proceeds" towards their loved ones. I think you'd better if you're going to profit from their sacrifice- and you'd better come clean about the "portion"- which I see your website says nothing about. In addition, this beer is brewed in Monroe, Wisconsin- not Montana. With that out of the way...

A moderate pour from a 12 ounce can into a shaker pint produces a nice creamy head of about an inch. The beer is a slightly hazy pale amber with moderate to high carbonation.

I perceive a definite aroma of Munich and/or Vienna malts. The aroma suggests grape skins or tomato skins. The palate is also malty but with a good amount of bittering hops to balance. The hop notes also suggest spice and maybe a touch of citrus. A somewhat creamy mouth feel combines with a lingering malty and hoppy aftertaste.

This is a very good lager with some actual flavor. I think it could pass as a Marzen lager.

A good looking beer representing a fairly average style. Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass. Very nice dark gold color and a small head that manages to hang in there for quite a while. Streaks of lacing on the glass.

Aroma and taste are like a slightly more malty adjunct lager. The malt profile and touch of grassy hops at the end keep this from being just another Amer Adjunct lager in taste.

Mouthfeel is about average, not just a macro MCBeer.. On the whole, not bad especially as a lawn mower beer or with food.

I thought this was a well made beer that had very good balance. There was a decent amount of malt, giving the DT a nice body and mouthfeel. The hops are restrained but nicely supporting. Good beer.
