Poured into an oversized wine glass. Color was almost black, but had a slight reddish tint to it. Thin light brown head, mostly left lacings. Slightly sweet brown bread aroma, small hint of sour. Flavor was a slighty burnt lactose sugar with some burnt caramel. Not overly sweet, nor was it overly burnt. A bit thin, but not terribly so. Still coated well, just thinner than I like. Not at all what I expected when I grabbed a black ale.

Pours dark like cola. Very little head. Sweet, malty and tasty. A very drinkable stout.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Creamy head with decent lacing.
Smell was not sweet, nor hoppy.
Did not have a black ale nor a milk stout taste. Touch of sweetness and some burntness at the end.
Not sure what exactly this is supposed to be, maybe a combo?
But not a bad brew for a rainy, cold December eve.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on August 23, 2014.
It is a dark brown to nearly black pour that has a modest tan head.
The aroma has this freshly brewed roasted malt character and a nice sweetness to it. The earthy hops are more noticeable when it warms.
Light to medium body,
Roasted malt taste with a decent bitterness that emerges more as it warms.

Bottle from the brewery
Pours a hazy dark brown color with a smattering of off white bubbles that disappear almost instantly. Aromas of earth fruit and roast with just a touch of chocolate as this warms. The flavor is a bit acrid with coffee and little else to counter it. Light earthy a bit of yeasty flavor and some odd phenols. Medium to light body with an almost non existent level of carbonation. Feels like a homebrew, certainly not up to par with something that I should be paying for. Maybe this would be a bit better with some carbonation, but as is I couldn’t finish it.

This is a cream stout brewed in the "real ale" style and it is about as perfect an example of that as there is to be had. At its recommended serving temperature you can tumble it into the glass and it will have a nice creamy head. The aroma is rich with roasted barley and wheat. Mouthfeel is full bodied and satisfying. The flavor is very strong with the roasted wheat taking the fore and the roasted barley adding earthy undertones, the contribution from hops is very subtle. I can't say anything negative about this beer. It was released for the Gilsum (NH) Rock Swap, so I am not sure how long it will be available.
