Pours dark amber with a fluffy off white head that leaves heavy lacing.
Smell is smokey and malty. Hints of clove and phenol sweetness too. Great smell.
Taste features all the notes of the nose but the prominent flavor is the bitter smokiness. Starts with hints of malt and clove and banana/bubblegum. But quickly gives way to a strong bitterness. I can't tell if I like it. It's definitely strange.
Mouthfeel- Full bodied.
Overall- That bitterness on the tail end was too much. It's interesting but I wouldn't drink it again.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Released in May 2016. Sampled on May 29, 2016.
It was attractive looking with its deep amber-brown pour under a lingering tan head.
I did pick up some honey in the aroma and maybe a spicy maltiness but there was also a burnt quality about it that put me off.
Medium and slick body.
The burnt character seemed to overtake the honey and wheat characters I was looking for. Kind of buttery too. The finish was mildly bitter, which caught me off guard.

Bottle from Bert's
Mostly clear deep copper with garnet at the edges with a smallish tightly bubbled off white head. Big spicy earthy notes on the noase and in the flavor. Light non descript bitterness feels like menthol a little. Earthy spicy yeasty notes. Not bad.
