I rated C&UB's Great Northern Crisp considerably higher than the average to make a point about the futility of punishing C&UB since they have so much of the overall beer market. And so when I taste Long Run, I sense that my judgment was good and that C&UB is, in fact, interested in brewing good beer.
I'm not going to argue the point that Long Run is not an American Adjunct; but I don't agree with this styling. Long Run uses its Aussie barley well and what adjuncts may be in the malt bill, they are small and add subtle flavour.
Long Run is a Premium Crisp Lager as advertised. For that and continuing to try to make good beers despite not having to to survive, I still give C&UB decent Overall Hugs.
While it Looks only slightly above average (could have a more lasting foam), it Smells of sweet malt and hints of grassy hops. Tastes are well-balanced, particularly appropriate for many foods and refreshment. (I had sushi and I was thirsty.) Medium-mouthed in a light category. Crisp.
