Batch #7 in our Plow to Pint series. Due to the popularity of our cranberry Ale and our Apple Ale we've combined the goodness of both into a delicious Orchard Saison. A sturdy wheat beer brewed with apple cider and cranberries from Wetherby Cranberry farm in Warren, Wisconsin. The sweet apple notes in the front end are balanced by the acidity and tartness of cranberry in the finish. The Belgian yeast creates a dry finish making this a refreshing warm weather brew. Pair it with sun and a picnic table, or our buffalo chips with hot sauce. Delicious!

Look: Clear gold with average head that leaves some film
Smell: apple, wheat beer aromas, and a bit of belgian yeast
Taste: Kind of a melding of wheat beer, belgian yeast and apple cider, with the last being the most dominant. The balance is fairly dry with acidity associated with the fruit. The belgian yeast characteristics didn't come through as strongly as in most saisons. Not much hops to speak of but this is probably for the best. Although not very saison-like in my opinion, it is pretty pleasant and refreshing. A few off-flavors perhaps associated with the cranberries were my only reservation.
Feel: light-medium body with some effervescence
Overall: Actually a pretty nice beer, though calling it a saison is kind of confusing. I think of it more as a wheat beer/cider. Regardless, it is lighter in body, refreshing, and effervescent as I expect of saisons.
