Golden filtered with a little small bubbled carbonation, and 4 fingers of off white head.
Smells fruity, and a bit like a stinky foot. Hints of toasted malts as well.
Very light and fruity, toasted malts, and a sharp tart note near the end, followed by light, dull, bitter hops.
Light body, with little carbonation.
Got at LCBO, drinking in Muskoka, Feb 23rd, 2018. Decent, light tasting brew.

On tap @ Bent Elbow and from cans from the brewery - nice color - cap collapses a bit soon, Aroma is understated for a rye ale, Taste is clean, no off tastes, malty, balanced, lightly bitter finish - not bad but nothing stands out.

473ml can

Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 20, 2017
The beer pours a transparent light gold colour with a generous creamy/bubbly head that lasts a few minutes. The aroma is very grainy with little hint of grain or hops. Not impressed so far.. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very metallic with hints of rye and herbal hops, unfortunately not the 'spicy' rye I prefer. Like the beer I had earlier, this is not something I would try again.

473 ml can served fairly cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for just under $3 CDN.
Appearance - Hazy, but rich golden color with orange / bronze hues. Decent finger of soapy white head is poured and rests on top with modest retention.
Smell - Some grain, but rather metallic smelling, not much else going since everything is muted.
Taste - Rather sweet. Doughy bread, like slightly underbaked muffins, creamed corn, some yeast. Very mild bitterness and only in the close. Just a bit of fruit, maybe some peach and / or apricot. Much better tasting than it smells. Rye if any is barely noticeable. Taste becomes more watery after a few sips.
Mouthfeel - Smooth and creamy, slick body, fullness of cream ale with the slickness of a porter. Does that even make sense? Either way it appeals to my senses.
Overall - Reynard the Fox is an interesting ale, providing flavors and a body that taste and feel different than they appear. A pretty solid beer that's brought down by the lack of nose, it nonetheless warrants a taste.

First sip? Malty and citrus notes soon overwhelmed by "euro hop" bomb. And That's all you taste for the balance of the can and most of your night into the next day. So hoppy you transform into a kangaroo. My cat likes it, so that's something. I wouldn't call this a session beer, I'd call it an out and out palate destroyer. I haven't had a sip since I started writing, and I still taste hops. ***shudder***

Purchased at the LCBO for just under the $3.00 mark for a 473ml can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass
A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that stays for over 3mins before film out. Medium gold colour and filtered clear
S- Not a lot here. Some sweetness
T- Pretty good malt base. Nice change. Nothing overwhelmingly great but it is a nice overall blend. Rich and full tasting. Touch sweet.
M- Dry but creamy at the beginning
O- Nice brew for a change. Will buy again one day
Food Pairing
This nice little brew went well with....... No peeking chicken- rice, cream of celery soup, water, chicken quarters and onion soup mix. Pop in the oven and don't peek for 2hrs at 325deg F
Enjoy

473 mL shrink-wrapped can from the LCBO; dated Mar 2 2016 and served slightly chilled. I am 95% sure that I have sampled this at a beerfest, but my memory ain't what it used to be.
Pours a foggy golden hue, initially fitted with nearly two fingers of creamy, bone white-coloured head. Good retention; the thick mat of froth lasts for five minutes or so, eventually giving way to a wide, foamy collar and a beautiful curtain of lacing. This is a lovely-looking golden ale. Bready, grainy malts and rye comprise much of the aroma, with additional notes of doughy biscuit, butterscotch and grassy hay. Nothing fancy, but suitable for the style.
Taste follows the nose; generally malt-forward, with doughy, grainy malt and rye bread flavour playing a significant structural role. Finishes mildly grassy, with a hint of Euro hop bitterness that helps to dry out the aftertaste. Very simplistic, but if you're looking for a mellow session ale then this might be just what the doctor ordered. Relatively light-bodied, with very soft carbonation levels that weakly agitate the tongue. The tasting notes on the can emphasize this one's "crisp" nature, but given the relatively limp mouthfeel I am getting, I don't think I agree with their choice of adjective. Regardless, it's still very easy to throw down the hatch.
Final Grade: 3.58, a B. Reynard the Fox is a decent blonde rye beer - it's very straightforward, but if you're looking for a mellow, sessionable ale then this fits the bill to a tee. As with their flagship pale ale (Harbinger), I don't find this to be a particularly interesting or unique ale, but it does potentially harbour a lot of "mass appeal", in that you don't necessarily need to be a craft beer dork to enjoy this one. At less than 3 bucks a can, you don't have much to lose by giving this one a shot, but I wouldn't expect any socks to be knocked off.
