12 ounce can into dimpled mug, canned in 8/2019. Pours lightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of honey, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, cracker, nutty, light caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit of fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big honey, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, cracker, nutty, light caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of honey, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, cracker, nutty, light caramel, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent Oktoberfest. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Great soft feel, not aggressive, very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Awesome clean Pils/Munich/Vienna malt showcase; with nice noble hop presence/balance for the style. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example.
