Intense smoke aroma and flavor that diminish with each sip, revealing melon rind and cedar in the aroma with other characteristics similar to a Kolsch. The large portion of wheat in the grist helps this beer settle to a brilliant clarity and produces a rocky head while pouring.

750 ml bottle, handwritten Batch #159 written on the label. The label also lists this beer as a Grodziskie, and at 5.50% abv.
Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.
A - A golden yellow body on the pour with a slight haziness. One finger of good thick frothy white head with excellent staying power. Fat fluffy streaks of lacing left behind. Appears aptly carbonated. Looks very nice.
S - A light smokiness pervades a crisp golden wheaty beer body. Notes of fresh smoked wheat and grains are apparent. Slight earthy / grassy hay aromas in the back, but the subtle smokiness is the dominant feature. Maybe some subtle notes of citrus fruits from any hopping / dry-hopping. Very on point for the style, I'd say.
T - This is actually very delicious: crisp fresh wheat / grains, again pervaded with a light touch of smoke. The smoke level is perfect; not overpowering. The hops have their turn to shine also with subtle notes of fresh stone fruits / citrus. Very well-balanced stuff, to be damn sure.
M - The feel is smooth, crisp, fresh, clean. Light smokiness / hop bitterness leftover on the palate. Borderline refreshing stuff; very light-bodied and easy-drinking, with excellent carbonation.
Overall, very impressive stuff. Very nice depth and duration of flavor. A superb example of the style, I will be sure to check out much more from Marz Community Brewing. Recommended.

Served from tap in a tumbler at Firkin.
A new grätzer from a new local-ish brewery, this one with some oak-smoked malts. Let's do this: It pours a lightly-hazy straw topped by a finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises slightly tart lemon zest, light coriander, and a hint of what seems like black pepper. I may or may not get a faint sniff of vague smoke, but that may also just be entirely in my head. The taste holds notes of lemon zest, cracked wheat, smoked salmon (the fish part of course being mostly absent), light coriander, and a touch of sweet biscuit way in the background. The body is a hefty-leaning light, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a very tasty and enjoyable grätzer, one of the best I've had in a while. Looking forward to hearing more from Marz in the near future.
