a really great beer from these guys, super wild and dry and mature and funky, fairly priced too over the bar, and i think the first 750ml bottle i have seen from these guys, perhaps its a little older now, i did not see a date. its a brett saison with nelson hops aged in oak, and its delicious. the nose is strong white wine through the airy belgian white head, white grape and apricot and nectarine and some funky brett esters and wet animal elements, robust but not heavy, if that makes sense. im surprised how well the hops have held up, even if this is only a few months old, they taste brand new, and its so decidedly nelson, which i live for, its their essence in a cool belgian sort of saison, not sure its a total brett fermentation, but the brett here is real well established, pineapples and wet straw, juicy at the same time that its dry, super winey, mouthwatering but not quite sour, delicate but complex. the hops are bold here, sharp even for a moment, but so well integrated too. this is a great beer, a cool idea and expertly executed. i have not had a lot of wild stuff from marz, but this just adds to their legendary status for me, i just love everything they do. i hope to see more stuff in this direction from them moving forward! effervescent and fascinating!

Pours a hazy light yellow with good carbonation. The bubbly white head fades quickly.
The aroma fresh out of the bottle is a funky, fruity wine. This fades with time to more of a crackery malt with underlying berry or tropical fruit.
The taste is well balanced. Nice lemon and pepper saison supported by a bit of wine and berry. There's nice notes of over ripe fruit, maybe a bit of pineapple. A little funk on the back end, a bit earthy.
Good full mouthfeel. Good carbonation and finishes dry. Fruity notes linger.
Overall, I'm into this. Everything plays together really well. From the description I was expecting something more in your face, however it was well balance, subdued, and no part really dominates. Apparently this was a pretty limited release, so I may need to try to grab a few more.
