@ Haw River
Dark mahogany color with a creamy ring on the surface. Mild pepper aromas float above soft yeast, vanilla-like bourbon, woody spice, toffee, and vinous fruits. Flavor is spiced, but almost more of a "festive" kind of spice rather than chili peppers. Moderate barrel character: wood, tobacco, and vanilla and really on a bit of alcohol - insanely drinkable and not overly sweet for it's strength. The bourbon is very well integrated to the beer...plummy, vinous Quad notes poking through, rich, but not syrupy, a little lingering pepper in the back. Floaty, medium body with a drying finish. Subtle on the Belgian yeast character all around. Just a really nice harmonious blend of elements.
