The cold weather "sister beer" to our favorite summer refresher Sun Hands, Snow Hands is our big, deep amber trappist-style Dark Strong Ale brewed with dark candi syrup and a variety of toasted malts, then spiced after fermentation with foraged spicebush berries & fenugreek seed and dry-hopped with a variety of tasty hops.

Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is moderately good.
Smell: The aroma is strong is raisin and spices. There are alcohol notes with sugar and a slight bit of evergreen.
Taste: The spiceness is in the forefront of the flavors with raison and evergreen close in support. There is a sugary element to it and the alcohol is noticeable as well.
Feel: It has a medium body with a quite warm bit of alcohol in the finish, but not hot.
Overall, a well spice Belgian dark strong ale with pleasant evergreen and dark fruits in support.

Maple syrup aroma, but unfortunately, the flavor is more of cough syrup.

500ml bottle poured into a stemless wine glass.
Look - deep dark mahogany with a gigantic fluffy khaki head and pretty lacing.
Smell - very spicy and aromatic, dark fruit, piney and floral hops, roasted malts, caramel, and a solid yeasty funk.
Taste - follows the nose with spices hitting hard, some cherry/dark fruit notes, caramel and bready malts, and a nice blend of funky yeast and floral and piney hop notes rounding out the sweeter, richer overall flavor profile.
Feel - high carbonation, medium body, smooth finish.
Overall, this makes for an interesting Belgian strong dark ale in that it resembles a spicy winter warmer that also has the added bonus of a healthy dose of hops. Definitely check this out if you come across it.

One of those beers that gets points for creativity, but really the end result just doesn't do anything for me. The sweetness of the candi sugar of the big dark Belgian ale clashes with the dry hopping. Not horrible by any means, and I could see some people maybe really digging this, but again, just not my type of beer.

Came in a goblet a deep amber hued mahogany with a thinner well sustained tan colored head atop. The candy syrup really sticks out in the nose, almost a molasses tinge,a little spice and earthy hops as well.A sweet punch upfront on the palate with fenugreek adding a mild touch,a drying earthy hop finish to add some balance from the sweetness upfront. The alcohol did seem to creep up a little as it became a little more sticky after awhile. An interesting beer to say the least,HR can make some very 'interesting' stuff to say the least.
