One of our most requested winter beers has gotten a facelift this year (2022)! Our big, beautiful deep amber Trappist-style dark strong ale is brewed with real Grade A maple syrup from the Blais family's maple farm in Maine, now aged in maple syrup-bourbon oak barrels for a full year, and finished with bright, floral spicebush berries before packaging, which layer in just a touch of warm, citrusy spice at the end.

A friend of mine picked up a can from the brewery 12-17-22. No canning date; consumed 7-13-23.
Beer poured deep reddish-brown with a very nice tan head.
Nose is nice, very maple forward with a faint touch of bourbon lingering in the background.
Taste is a large but light feeling malt base that takes on the maple bourbon barrel nicely. Getting a good blend of maple and bourbon that offsets the fruity esters i would imagine the yeast is producing. Would love to try the base.. SDBA. Finishes a touch sweet from the maple.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and very smooth and satisfying with each sip.
Overall a really fun beer to try. Can't recall many SDBA variants over the years but this one is nicely done!
