Poured from undated 12 oz. can into a snulip glass. Its color is a pretty, honey-amber and it sports a full finger cap of fluffy, milk-white foam with a thick film of lacing. Its nose is subdued; mostly malts with some scents of pine resin. The taste is earthy and bitter with burnt malt and charred nuts. There is little sweetness - either caramel or fruit - but a strong pine sap presence. Based upon other reviews, the can may be old and the citrus has dissipated to almost nothing. This ale has a good mouth feel: reasonably creamy with appropriate carbonation, and it's very drinkable at 5.6% ABV. Overall, Cooper's Landing is a decent American IPA of the malty, bitter, "southeastern" variety. I wish I knew the canning date; I suspect it has greater depth of flavor when fresh.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a clear, golden copper color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of pine, orange and roasted caramel malt. Nice piney, bitter presence with toasted caramel and a citrusy zing. Medium bodied and crisp. A nice new IPA at Bur Oak.
