On tap at Beer Shop, NYC.
Pours a black color with a marvelous mocha cap head. As the head soon dissipates, a ring of lacing remains.
The nose is very enticing, with aromas of nutty malt, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee and roasted malt. As the beer warms, flavors of dark chocolate,
The taste highlights the roasted malt bitterness. It provides a mild acidity in the middle palate and a bitter espresso bean finish. As the beer warms, bitter dark chocolate flavors develop, along with a touch of bright citrusy hops.
The only thing that bothered me about this brew was how thin and watery the body felt at first. As the drink unfolds, the body becomes fuller, although still a bit short of robust. Smooth mouthfeel overall, with moderate carbonation.
Nice porter overall that emphasizes the bitterness and roasty flavors, albeit not as “robust” as the name implies.

Had on tap. Pours black with a thin mocha head that left a couple rings of lacing. Smells and tastes of dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and a bit of smokiness. Medium to full bodied for the style, light carbonation, creamy mouth feel.

Poured a black body with one-finger head and a lace ring down the glass. The aroma is smoky and dry with roasted malts everywhere. Mostly a dry, smoky, woody beer with roasted malts dominating the profile but there is enough bitter chocolate sweetness in background to add a little balance.
