On tap at Cycle. Served in a pint glass.
Appearance - Hazy golden amber body. Medium white head.
Smell - Caramel malt. Bready beyond that. German hops.
Taste - Sweet caramel malt is very intense up front. Bread flavors build as do floral malts. Some bitterness in the back.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy for the style. Medium carbonation.
Overall - Kinda heavy for me. Distracts from the aspects I like about the style.

(new version is stated at 5%) - Poured a copper body with minimal head and lace ring. Offputting, skunky malt and hop aroma. Smooth, clean, crisp, earthy, springlike hops with decent balance from a moderate malt backbone. Nothing amazing, good balance, touch of sweetness, but odd smell and due to pedestrian taste this is not a beer worth seeking (especially since Cycle does so many better beers).

Clear golden/amber in color with a thin white head. Retention? Not so much, just a ring remains after 90 seconds.
Smell is faint, malty, caranel, slight wood, hint of yeast.
Taste is better with malt throughout, backed by seasoned wood, yeast, caramel, some herbal and fruit (apple) and spice notes.
Fairly full bodied, light effervescence. Drying in the middle and finish. A solid comparison to the Germans and without the TSA hassle. Good stuff as always.
