Pour opaque black, small sliver of dark brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is big coffee and huge bourbon. Honestly surprised at how well this has held up, both the adjunct and the barrel. It smells somewhat like an OG BCBCS (god I miss that beer), although not quite as voluptuous. I get fairly prominent toasted marshmallow, a bit of cardboard, and roasted malt. Really wonderful nose. Taste is good but a bit of a let down as it lacks both the coffee and bourbon punch that was on the nose. These characters are present just not to the extent of the aroma. I also get big dark fruit, in fact these are the most prominent characters I get. Fig, cherry and berry characters. Roasted malt on the back end. A bit of an herbaceous character to round it out. Mouthfeel is full bodied and thick. ABV is well masked but drinkability is quite limited due to the very low carbonation and syrupy viscous nature of the beer. Overall, it’s a good beer but has some limitations. Nothing like the glory days of the small batch Pegs Cantina brewed offerings.

Got this one from desp a while back. Cheers!
From a bomber into a snifter
R1 barrel aged imperial stout with barrel aged coffee
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, slightly fizzy and foamy tan head with decent retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head crackles down to a faint wisp and ring. A slight ring remains until the end but leaves no real lacing on the glass. Good body but mediocre head.
SMELL: Big nose with lots of bourbon barrel, sweet vanilla cream, espresso coffee, milk chocolate, oak and alcohol. Wood and coconut as well. Big and bold for sure.
TASTE: Bourbon, roasted malts, sweet vanilla cream, coconut and espresso coffee up front. Boozy as well. Lots of bourbon, wood and sweet vanilla butterscotch at the swallow, moving into a big finish of oak, wood, bourbon, sweet vanilla and coconut, butterscotch sweetness, milk chocolate and some bitter espresso coffee lingering nicely on the palate.
PALATE: Fuller body with medium levels of carbonation. Creamy, silky slick on the palate, goes down smooth, no bite, and finishes sticky on the palate. No real heat lingers either. Silky, creamy and smooth for the style. Lovely.
OVERALL: Drool. Super delicious. The barrel aged coffee is exactly that, as this one tastes like booze laced coffee as opposed to straight up cold brewed coffee. The nose and flavor here are outstanding, as is the super creamy, silky feel. It’s brews like this that convince me that Cycle could easily take top spot from CCB as the best stout brewer in the world. This one is lovely and well worth every questionable deed you need to do to get it. Would love to drink it again. Thanks again, desp. Cheers!

Pours thick from the bomber, with oily legs when swirled and minimal head and lacing. Very appealing chocolate fudge and earthy coffee notes, but detecting a slight overextraction of the coffee on the mid-palate once it warms, presenting a bit more "green-ness" from pyrazines than I would prefer. Still though, exceptionally tasty, and with a very full body and smooth mouthfeel presiding over a long, sweet finish. Not really what I would call balanced, but it's all in on the dance between coffee bitterness and dessert-stout sweetness.
