This single adjunct stout spent 20 months in bourbon barrels and was then aged on Ancho and Pasilla peppers. The peppery flavor plays well with the barrel and is not spicy.

Copenhagen 18/5 2023. 65 cl bottle from Best of Beers web-shop. Cycle Brewing's usual abstract label design with red circles on a white background punctuated by vertical black lines.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a dark, sweet, malty odor mingling with chili peppers and a bit of dark alcohol. Brown sugar and toffee, cocoa, sweet Bourbon. Peppers and leather.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, a bit sticky, slightly viscous, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a delicate, moderate burning streak. Lingering. Finish is sweet and a bit boozy.
Sweet and potent Imperial Porter with a subtle chili touch.

Bomber from Tavour. Dark brown pour, small bubbly head. Aroma is roasty and sweet, some heat from the alcohol and peppers. Taste starts sweet, roasty, then the chili peppers kick in ith a spicy bite. Not over the top on the peppers.

Thought they did a great job with this. A lot of dark fruit and whiskey from the stout base, but with warmth you get both flavor and heat from the chili peppers. Definitely a sipper, but balanced in both profile and spice.

Pitch black viscous pour with a brown cap and brown edging. Smell is rich chocolate and barrel with hints of pepper. Taste adds moderate peppers, oak really starts to emerge as it warms, but again still chocolate and the bourbon still lead, faint molasses in the background too. Feel has that cycle smoothness and fullness while having some light pepper spice. Not as pepper forward as expected, but a good stout despite the simpler personality

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short mocha-colored head that rapidly dissipated, leaving a narrow collar of off white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate and dark malts are present in the nose along with hints of chili peppers.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a bit stronger flavors of bourbon in the taste.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and slick on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. The chili peppers lend hints of heat to the finish.
O: For a beer that uses chili peppers, I found it to be quite easy to drink because it wasn't really that spicy.
